All by myself...

For the last couple of weeks, as I believe I've mentioned in previous posts, my sister has been gone so I've had the house to myself. It's quite nice having the house to myself but I will be glad when she returns. Have the house to myself lets me sort of relax in terms of having my stuff in the appropriate place, although no one can say I am ever particularly uptight about that. While I do enjoy having the house to myself, having someone nearby to tell me that doing something is stupid is nice too (not that she uses those terms, but it would have been good if I had had that buffer on Thursday night) . So today's favourite thing is having the house to myself (to a certain extent).

The one thing that I don't enjoy so much about having a blog (aside from having to think of something to right about) is that whenever I try to talk to some of my family members, they tell be they know because they read about it in my blog. On the same note, I like the fact that two of my sisters have blogs because I can just read about their days. Currently both of my blog-having sisters are on a cruise of the Mediterranean and have been sporadically updating their blogs. So I do know that they are in fact still alive and enjoying their cruise. So today's favourite thing is being able read about my sisters' cruise on their blogs.

Why is homemade stuff so much better?

I never really was much of a hummus eater until last year really. I had tried it but I didn't really care about it one way or the other. Then I tried the hummus, my sister Kathleen makes and I loved it. It is pretty much my favourite but I don't know if it's because it's the only stuff we ever really have or if it's actually that good. Today after dinner, my sister Colette and I still were a bit peckish so we had some of the hummus she had made last week with some of the bought pitas we had in the freezer (It was quite the sacrifice after eating the homemade ones last week). The hummus was what made the pitas worth eating. It was very good. If you are interested, the recipe is conveniently on Colette's blog.

A show for the whole family, but really not....

"Bones" is definitely one of my favourite TV shows although I haven't always felt that way. I stopped watching after the episode "Aliens in a Spaceship" because it annoyed me that they didn't catch the guy. Oddly enough, that episode is the one that got one of my sisters watching the show. This week's episode brought closure to that episode and I really enjoyed it. As with many "Bones" episodes, it had moments that brought up more questions that they answered but it was enjoyable enough that I didn't mind. Apparently, my niece had to call my sister to tell her that she was scared in the middle. Yes, my four year old niece watches "Bones." It is totally an inappropriate show for her to be watching but she loves it. Especially the parts where they actually show the bones. At the end, my one sister called back to make sure my niece was okay. Her mom said she was but they were going to have to have a discussion about ghosts.

Never say that to a teenage boy

I have two sisters that have their own blogs. One of my sisters mentioned a couple months ago that she had been in and won a couple speech contests. Today she said the speech for my other sister, a couple other relatives and myself. I really enjoyed her speech. It was about an incident that transpired when she was younger and how she may not be as angelic as she seems (cough, cough!). Said incident involved a truck that they may or may not have been allowed to drive (Heavy emphasis on the NOT). It was quite amusing and it had bonuse actions to go with it so woohoo. She has always been able to write poems or stories that had a certain flare to them. I totally could see why she won the contest. So my favourite thing today is my sister's speech especially since it involved actions.
