"Hotter than the real world me by far"

Today I found this music video tie in to the web series "The Guild" that I wrote about a few months ago. Here it is:

I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's an amusing song and the video really entertains me. It was directed by Zach Whedon of "Dr. Horrible" fame. SO today's favorite things is the song and video of "Do You Wanna Date My Avatar?".

What did they say about whistling while you work.

As I may have mentioned before, I tend to work overnight shifts on the weekend. I really don't mind them, mostly because depending on your coworkers, the manager and the customers, they tend to be generally more laid back than regular shifts. People visit, I sing along to the radio and I just feel less uptight (usually) than during some really crazy day shifts. Occasionally, you get annoying drunk people but they're usually pretty good. It helps when I get along with the otehr peolpe I work the shift with because when I don't, it makes for a long night. So today's favourite thing is the overnight shift. Another bonus is getting an extra dollar an hour and more of an employee discount.

Wicked through and through

Today, I spent much the day in the car. I really only tend to listen to the radio/ CD's while I am in the car because it is the only time I really am able to listen without many distractions. The CD that is currently in the car is the Wicked soundtrack. I have never seen the musical, but my sister has, hence the soundtrack. The show does have some catchy songs that get stuck in your head. Incessantly. I don't listen to every song on the CD but some of them are catchy. I especially like "What is this feeling?" which is a very upbeat song for two people telling each other how much they hate each other. I also the songs "Popular" and "For good." I tend to sing along with most of the songs even though I don't know half of the words. I wouldn't mind actually seeing the musical sometime because it seems interesting and I feel odd knowing many of the words to a musical I've never seen. I probably don't know as many of the words to musicals that I HAVE seen. So anyway, today's favourite thing is the WICKED soundtrack.

Today, my sister, my mom, my niece and I went out to my cousin's farm for the day. It's about a 2 hour drive so we didn't spend much time out there. On the way back, after listening to "Hit the road, Jack" for about the thousandth time, I managed to convince my niece to just keep listening to the CD even though that was the only song she knew the words to. We had a good time singing along and dancing to the music even if we had to make up some of the words. I don't know what CD we were listening to but it had a lot of good old songs. The other song that my niece really seemed to enjoy was "Charlie Brown" especially when it went "Why is everybody always picking on me." It was a fun 45 minutes of the 2 hour trip. It also helped to keep her awake so that she didn't fall asleep too close to bedtime. It was a pretty good day.

Oh, you just got burned, phonics style

As I mentioned in a previous post, I really enjoy the show How I Met Your Mother. For Christmas this year, I received the DVDs for season 2 (see also my post on TV DVDs). As I was watching them over the last couple days, I realized how much I enjoyed the character of Marshall (played by Jason Segel). I then realized that I never mentioned Marshall as one of the reasons I like that show and only really mentioned him in relationship to his haircut. So I decided to use a whole post to rectify that situation. Marshall (and Jason Segel) crack me up. Marshall is a pretty lovable guy. He gets excited over odd things, loves to do the robot, has some of the best facial expressions (maybe not the absolute best. I am looking at you, Jim Halpert), has a sort of innocence about him, and loves Lily very much. As for Jason Segel, I first saw him in Freaks and Geeks about ten years ago, and I have definitely found a few of his recent projects very enjoyable. Much like I very much enjoy any movie where Hugh Grant dances, I think that things can be very much improved in so many ways by having Jason Segel sing:
